The Minerva Monster – huge, hairy bigfoot beast terrorizes a Ohio family

The Minerva Monster Bigfoot sightings in northeast Ohio are nothing new – inexplicable bipedal cryptids been sighted in the area for at least 75 years – but the Minerva Monster incident, which triggered a massive coordinated search for an elusive “huge, hairy creature” that stalked the woods and terrified a local family near the town of Minerva, has long been regarded as one of the most convincing Bigfoot incidents in history. Cedar Bog opens – locals report ape-like monster In 1942, Ohioans shook with excitement when the Ohio Historical Society listed Cedar Bog as a nature preserve, the first of its kind in Ohio. Located in Champaign County, Ohio, the bog was carved by a glacier leaving behind the Teays River, a rich, fertile area teaming with natural

Colorado Bigfoot – hundreds of sasquatch sightings draw attention to elusive creature hiding in Colorado’s remote mountains

Encompassing most of the Southern Rocky Mountains as well as the northeastern portion of the Colorado Plateau and the western edge of the Great Plains, Colorado's remote wilderness areas remain largely uninhabited - except for the scattering of hikers and backpackers who traverse the area, exploring the beauty of Colorado's immense natural environment.  The area is a perfect habitat for Bigfoot and in fact, during the past 50 years, there have been hundreds of documented Bigfoot sightings in the wilderness areas of Colorado, some of which provide us with the best proof to date for the existence of sasquatch. The Jim Holder Bigfoot sighting (Estes Park, Colorado, 2007) Widely considered to be one of the top Bigfoot sightings of all time, in 2007, Jim Holder and his

Strange four-legged humanoid-like creature caught on CCTV crossing UK highway

In 2007, highway surveillance video from the United Kingdom captured what appears to be a strange humanoid-like creature sprinting across a four-lane highway.  At full-speed, the video appears to be of an animal crossing the highway at a pretty fast clip but still-frames from the video call that identification into question. Still frame photos show what appears to be a human head, body, and legs on a bizarre humanoid running on all fours. Proposals that the video was a fake were disproved by paranormal investigators. "We checked with local authorities who oversee the CCTVs in this area and this is not faked. They say it is genuine footage. This creature was filmed on CCTV running across a motorway in the UK." When the video first surfaced, explanations ranged

The Beast of Gevaudan Terrorizes France

A strange beast terrorizes Gevaudan, France From 1764 to 1767, a strange beast terrorized the province of Gevaudan. Located in the modern day district of Lozere, deep within the Margeride Mountains in south-central France, the creature was a wolf-like animal that devoured the local citizens. During the period there were 210 attacks resulting in 113 deaths. Almost all of the victims were partially eaten. What the beast was has never been determined. Witness accounts and descriptions of the beast Described by witnesses as a wolf-like animal, the attacks occurred during France’s 16th century werewolf scare. In later centuries, similar attacks were documented between 1809 and 1813 where 21 persons will killed.  Another rash of killings followed between 1875 through 1879 when dozens were brutally massacred. Substantial documentation and

Lycanthropy The term “Lycanthropy” refers to the ability of a human being to undergo transformation into an animal – typically a wolf. The term may also refer medically to a mental illness condition in which a patient believes he or she possesses lycanthropic abilities - again, most often a wolf. In 1975, Surawicz and Banta published two modern cases of lycanthropy (not to be confused with theriomorph or “shape shifting”) and again, both cases involved men who believed they could turn into wolves. Lycanthropy is a fairly new concept but the history of werewolfism goes much further back… How werewolves are infected There’s a common belief that a werewolf is “infected” after being bitten by another werewolf. It has been a common affliction with documented cases occurring all

The Chupacabra Chupacabra, Spanish for "goat sucker", gained its name from the many reports of the creature sucking the blood from farm goats, sheep, dogs, and other small animals.  Witnesses have described Chupacabra as an evasive creature three to four feet tall, eerie glowing red eyes, quills or spines along its back, no tail, and long sharp fangs.  They creature is gray or green in color and somewhat human like in appearance.  Some have reported that the creature had wings and long clawed arms.  Many have recognized it's similar appearance to the gargoyle prompting some to believe the gargoyle myth may actually be based on fact. It's movement is usually reported as bipedal (walking upright) although occasional reports indicate it flies (either aided by wings or by

The Yeti (aka Abominable Snowman) creature

Reports of the Yeti creature Reports of a large, human like creature in the Himalayas have been told as far back as 1832 (or arguably even earlier).  In that year, B.H. Hodgson wrote in The Journal of the Asiatic Society of Bengal of a human-like biped that walked erect and was covered in dark brownish hair.  He stated that the local people, called Sherpas, told him it was a demon... Sherpa Description of the Creature The local Sherpas believed there are actually two different types of yetis.  Dzu-teh which is 7-8 feet tall and meh-teh which is only 5-6 feet tall.  Most describe yeti as being 6 feet tall, ape-like with human characteristics, covered with short brownish-red hair (and occasionally described as having white spots on his chest).

The Devil’s Footprints

Footprints in the News Although documentation is sketchy, we do know that something extremely strange occurred in Topsham England on 02/07/1855.  Townspeople were shocked when they awoke to find unexplained footprints covering their yards, gardens, streets, and even roofs of their homes.  Although other reports of unknown tracks are known to exist, this incident proved to be most unexplainable.  The Times of London printed the following article on February 16, 1855. Considerable sensation has been evoked in he towns of Topsham, Lympstone, Exmouth, Teignmouth, and Dawlish, in the south of Devon, in consequence of the discovery of a vast number of foot tracks of a most strange and mysterious description. The superstitious go so far as to believe that they

Big Foot

Bigfoot Sightings Bigfoot is without a doubt the most recognized animal mystery in North America. Most Bigfoot sightings occur within the Northwestern United States although the early 1970’s produced some reports out of the Arkansas area. Similar sightings occur in Canada where the creature is known as Sasquatch. According to eyewitness testimonies, the human-like creature is well over 7 and a half feet tall weighing as much as 600 pounds. They seem to be largely nocturnal and usually are reported as traveling alone or in pairs. Their bodies, covered in red or light-brown colored hair, seem to be more human-like than ape like although their facial features seem to be somewhat proportioned like a gorilla - short necks, flat faces and nose, sloped foreheads, and wide

Vampires – Real or Legend?

Vampires Vampires (or Vampyres) are beings who subsist by feeing on the life essence (generally blood) of living creatures. The earliest appearance of the word in English occurred in 1734 in a book titled Travels of Three English Gentlemen. The word appeared in German literature as early as 1718 where officials noted the local practice of exhuming bodies and “killing vampires”. In other cultures the word has appeared as early as 1047 AD in a manuscript of the Book of Psalms where a priest writes about a man whose name meant “wicked vampire”. Vampires and vampirism has been documented for at least the past 1,000 years. Precursors to vampires have been mentioned in historical texts even earlier. The notion of vampirism has existed for millennia. Cultures such

The Almas Wild Men of Mongolia

Almas of Mongolia The Almas, Mongolian for "wild man," is a purported half-man, half animal creature that lives in the Altai Mountains in southern Mongolia and the Caucasus and Pamir Mountains in central Asia. Typically described as human like animals between five and six and a half feet tall, bodies covered in reddish-brown hair, and human like facial appearances and human like hands. Scientists note that descriptions are remarkable similar to descriptions of Neanderthals. Speculation that Almases may be something other than legendary creatures is based on purported eyewitness accounts, alleged footprint finds, and interpretations of long-standing native traditions that have been anthropologically collected. Almases appear in the legends of local people, who tell stories of sightings and human-Almas interactions dating back several hundred years. Apparently nomadic
