A large piece of Chinese space debris fell from space yesterday after passing over much of the United States. The debris was an 18-metric-ton core stage from the Long March 5B rocket that China launched on May 5, 2020. The trajectory of the debris passed over Los Angeles and New York before landing off the coast of West Africa just 15 minutes after passing over the US East Coast. This piece is the largest piece of uncontrolled space debris to re-enter the atmosphere since 1991.
