It’s likely the world’s oldest living vertebrate – a massive Greenland shark believed to be up to 512-years-old. The shark was discovered in the North Atlantic Ocean and given it’s age, was born sometime around 1505 – during the reign of King Henry VIII.

The sharks’ skin was wrinkled and worn with several visible scars. Experts used the shark’s length and radio carbon dating to determine its age.
